Code of conduct
How we show up for each other at Southwest Tech.
Southwest Tech is built on a simple idea — technology is for everyone, and everyone deserves to feel welcome at our meetups.
We call it the “No Dicks” policy. It’s not a long legal document. It’s just a shared understanding of how we treat each other.
What we ask of everyone
Be welcoming
All skill levels, backgrounds, and ages are welcome. Nobody should feel like they do not belong here.
Be curious, not condescending
Ask questions freely. Share knowledge generously. There is no such thing as a dumb question.
Disagree respectfully
Healthy debate is great. Personal attacks are not. Challenge ideas, not people.
Drink if you like, but it’s not the point
Our events are often held at venues that serve alcohol. Have a drink if that’s your thing — but this is a social and tech meetup, not a drinking club. If alcohol isn’t for you, that’s completely fine too. Nobody will make it a thing.
What we won’t tolerate
Do not be a dick
Harassment, exclusion, belittling, or making anyone feel unwelcome will not be tolerated. Does not matter who you are or what you know.
No selling
This is a social event, not a sales opportunity. We’re not here to sell you anything, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy. Sharing what you work on is great — pitching to the room is not.
No gatekeeping
This is not a test. Tech is for everyone — not just people who have been doing it the longest.
